For the 26th UA, the focus on improving dormitories was remarkable. In the case that regular semester finishes later than start of vacation, RC residents had to leave RC and existing dormitory residents might meet new residents of the room for the vacation before the end of the semester. The issues were resolved and students are now ensured they can stay in their room until the end of the semester. However, the lack of dormitory rooms and internet problems have not been resolved.
The plan to spread RC program to existing dormitory undergraduate residents was replaced, making them use some budget of dormitory policy autonomously. The other result was mutual interchanging with Korean National University Of Arts (KNUA), which is still in effect as united volunteering and credit exchange. They also tried to organize a joint meeting with KAIST, GIST, POSTEH, UNIST, but it was ended in 2013.
The 27th UA started recording the thirty-year history of UA. The work was divided for the 27th – 30th UA , each UA is to record the history and achievements of 10 prior UAs and the last UA is to arrange previous total metarials. In terms of improving education, the 27th US reduced ABC units from 10 to 7. United activities with KNUA and UNIST were activated POSTECH rejoined POP. From the 27th UA, the undergraduate union fee became a selective fee, which was expected to significantly decrease the income and budget. However, the payment ratio of union fee reached 97%. In addition, the UA obtained more than twice the outside support than in 2012, so there was no shortage to push forward its pledges. The autonomous budgeting system supported students who wanted to realize their ideas for themselves. As a result, the first POSTECH Hackathon 24 was held, which continued to 2014.
In 2014, the autonomous budgeting system was further developed, which helped to realize the project “Sanggak-norite”. The project was proposed by the 28th UA to help students represent their creative ideas about new campus life and realize their plans, including custom design and a photography seminar, which were held last year. Unfortunately, the project “Play with Exchange Students in POSTECH” didn’t work out. Among the pledges about online communication, a new community, “PoPo”, appeared to replace the troubled POU. And to develop offline communication, the 28th UA organized “Let’s have a meal” project and office hour with President Kim continuously for one year. It also tried several plans to make more exchanges with other universities. The volunteering united with KNUA during winter vacation restarted and feedback from students, who attended in other universities, was collected to improve the education environment. In the case of Handong University, many students dropped the class in the middle of the semester because of the burden of grades in POSTECH. As solutions, the 28th UA proposed prohibiting dropping during semester and pass or non-pass system was changed to evaluating grades from 2015, which are not fundamental solutions. The underlying problem still needs to be identified and addressed. In conclusion, the 28th UA promoted exchange with other universities and the remaining problems are expected to be revised by the 29th UA.
There is a common pledge between the 29th and the 26 UAs: a shuttle bus between POSTECH and the inner-city bus terminal. It has been planned since 2012 but not realized and it is revised by the 29th US with the shuttle route extended to include the new Pohang KTX station on national holidays, right after mid-term exams, and at the end of the semester.
