The vice president of  academic affairs announced that academic credits, received from credit exchange, will be included in GPA from the first semester of 2015. Since 2001 the credit had not been included in GPA and it was only used to satisfy the number of the total credits. The change is being implemented to increase the effectiveness of credit exchange and encourage students to put more time and concentration into credit exchange courses.
The registration for credit exchange courses was held from Nov. 24 - Dec. 3, before this decision was made. Students signed up for courses in Handong Global University, thinking the credit would not affect their scholarships and GPA. But the office of academic affairs just said, “If you do not want it, just drop the course in the drop/add period,” without any other solution. Hong Kyoung-Seon (LIFE 13) posed the problem about the change on the free bulletin board: “We understand the purpose of the change but the post was too late. We think the implement from first semester is not appropriate.” Finally, the dean of academic affairs decided to delay the implementation to this summer session.
