POSTECH Professor Leads Korean Science

Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Plan- ning (MSIP) appointed Professor Kim Seung Hwan (PHYS) as the chief director of Korean Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC). Also, it revealed that he began his work on Oct. 29 and his term of chief director is 3 years.
Prof. Kim, an authority of complexity system and brain science, assumes the chief of Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) and holds office again as a chief in Association of Asia Pacific Physical Society (AAPPS). He is a physicist and educator internationally leading the physics academia. He joined POSTECH in 1990 and served as Vice President of Research and Industry Affairs, Executive Director of Academia-Industry Collaboration Foundation, and the CEO of POSTECH Technology Holding Company.
MSIP revealed that the reason of appointment is that Prof. Kim can lead long-range development of KOFAC, the institute of progressing science technology, spreading a creative economy culture based on deep thought about science technology and experience of science communications.
