Numerous awards have been received by professors and students from the Dept. of Electrical Engineering. Professor Im Gi-Hong (EE) was selected as the recipient of the Dr. Irwin Jacobs Award, named from the founder of the Qualcomm in U.S, in International Conference On ICT Convergence 2014 (ICTC) on Oct. 22. Prof. Im was awarded for his various domestic and foreign academic activities such as registering 20 patents both in USA and Korea and announcing 40 papers on Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) journals like Communications Magazine.
POSTECH Analog Systems IC -a team of Prof. Kim Byungsub (EE), Han seungho (EE Ph.D. candidate), and Lee Suen (EE Ph.D. candidate)- was awarded the gold medal in the 15th Korea Semiconductor Design Contest, supported by Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO), on Oct. 21. They proposed “Coefficient-Error-Robust Feed Forward Equalizer”, which was evaluated as technology that utilizes a simple principle to diminish sensitivity to tap coefficient error and power consumption with elevated communication speed.
