Professor Seikwang Hahn (MSE) and his research team announced their results regarding the use of hydrogel for regenerative medicine. This helps to significantly improve the treatment for obstinate diseases by effectively conveying cell therapy products. The results were published in Progress in Polymer Science, IF = 26.854, a world-class journal in the field of MSE. The article introduces various techniques of hydrogels and focuses on Professor Hahn’s joint research with Harvard Medical School. They researched diagnosis and treatment technology using hydrogel by transmitting light inside the human body. This research developed hydrogel to have specialized optical characters. This kind of hydrogel was put into the human body with optogenetic cells, whose genetic expression can be controlled by light. Then, they shed light on them. As a result, they produced insulin. This could potentially cure diabetes. The article also focused cell therapy transmission technology based on the use of self-assembly hydrogel  with Prof. Kimoon Kim (CHEM). Genexine, Inc. whose CEO is Prof. Youngchul Sung (LIFE), signed a contract with Professor Kim. The results of the research will soon be commercialized.
