A POSTECH research team was spotlighted in the world of academics for publishing high-quality theses in various symposium/conferences, whilst also scoring high in the assessment category regarding contribution to the national research development
Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning recently announced Professor Tae-Woo Lee (MSE), Prof. Hwang, Cheol-Sang (LIFE), Prof. Dong-Pyo Kim (CE) and Prof. Hee Cheul Choi (CHEM) as members of the “2014 TOP 100 Excellence in National Research Development”. The selected theses are: “Nanowire printing technique for wearable electronic devices” by Prof. Lee, “The N-terminal methionine of cellular proteins as a degradation signal” by Prof. Hwang, “Safe approach in chemical engineering of toxic materials” by Prof. Kim, and “Development of nanopore material used in purifying toxic water pollutants of all sizes” by Prof Choi.
Apart from them, Prof. Hyoung Seop Kim (MSE) was awarded the “Shinhan Diamond Best Thesis Award” from Korean Powder Metallurgy Institute. Moreover, his mentee, Junggi Kim (M.S. Ph.D. Integrated candidate) received the “Best Poster Award” at the NANOSPD6 (Nanomaterials by Severe Plastic Deformation) recently held in France. Dr. Ji San Lee (MSE, Post Ph.D.) received the “Best Video Prize” given by Photron in the International Conference on Micro & Nanofluids in the Netherlands for showing the dynamics of air bubbles at the instant when a water droplet falls onto a fluid surface by using X-ray imaging.
