A Korean postdoctoral researcher, who has completed his bachelors to Ph.D. in Korea, has been appointed as a professor in the Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), established by Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS) in Malaysia.
Dr. Do Kyun Kim stayed in POSTECH as a senior researcher in the Graduate School of Engineering Mastership and has been appointed as a professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at UTP.
Dr. Do Kyun Kim, graduated from Pusan National University, explored research related to ships and offshore plant infrastructures. His research related to deep sea infrastructures has been fruitful and acknowledged in the world of academia.
Since 2013, through the support given to POSTECH from the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, he was hired as a senior researcher. Last year, he acquired the best paper award from the Royal Institute of Naval Architects and another best paper award from the International Conference on Ocean, Offshore, and Arctic Engineering.
Dr. Do Kyun Kim states he wants to act as a bridge between the Korean ship & offshore plant development and Malaysian petroleum companies.
Meanwhile, from the second semester, he, with the support from the Ministry of Education and National Research Foundation of Korea, will start his research at UTP.
