In order for Postechians to gain leadership skills and diverse experiences, POSTECH has implemented a program in the Residential College (RC) for freshmen and sophomores since 2008. While they live in this dormitory, they have the choice to participate in the activities, which are provided once a month, for a small fee.
The first program, “Table Manners”, was held on Mar. 24, 26, and 28 at 6:30 P.M. It took place on three days so all students could participate. Sommelier Yoon Il Yong from the Hilton Hotel came to give a lecture on the basic manners that need to be followed during an important dinner. Students learned proper table manners such as being on time, proper use of napkins, and how to pour wine. After the lecture, students were provided with a proper course meal at a hotel so that they had the chance to apply what they had learned.
Apart from “Table Manners,” there are several other activities planned out for the semester. On Mar. 5, students are to be taken to Daegu to watch the musical “Mamma Mia”, or “Be Happy”. On May 10, they are going to Gamcheon Culture Village and Bupyeong Kkangtong Market in Busan to have a look at that region’s culture. Lastly, on May 31 at Sanchong, students are going rafting.
Freshmen and sophomore students are also guided by student residential advisors (RAs), and professors. Whenever there are problems, they have someone they can go to for advice.
