Professor Chong Soo Lee, the Dean of GIFT, has been selected as a fellow of The Korean Aca- demy of Science and Technology (KAST) in the field of Eng- ineering as of Jan. 1. For the last 30 years, he has researched in areas related to titanium alloy and plasticity. KAST elects fellows that have professional knowledge in the field of scientific technology, as it is an organization that has been established to contribute to the nation’s prosperity and development in scientific technology. In order to do so, KAST relies on the professional knowledge of each division. It recruits great scholars who are recognized for their exceeding knowledge in both domestic and foreign environments.
In 2009, Prof. Lee was the first Korean to become a member of the European Academy of Sciences (EURASC), and in 2011, he became a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea (NAEK) in the field of resources on material science and engineering. His research specialty lies in the fatigue behavior of steel, Ti and Mg alloys, formability of structural materials, and hydrogen embrittlement of high strength steels.
