Professor Sei Kwang Hahn (MSE) and his research team of Biomedical Nan- omaterials Lab won the grand prize at the 2013 Industry-Univ- ersity Cooperation Contest. The awards ceremony was held at COEX, Seoul on Oct. 23.
Conducted by the Ministry of Education, this contest found and awarded an excellent case of industry-university cooperation for activation of the cooperation and enlargement of base. Prof. Hahn was awarded for the development with Shin Poong Pharm., Co. Ltd of a nanomedicine product based on hyaluronic acid.
Prof. Hahn achieved a commercialization of the new adhesion inhibitor, Medicurtain. Also, he developed a filler for plastic surgery, a joint lubricant, and a protein drug delivery system for live ailment. He is conducting research to commercialize those products too. These days, he is conducting joint research with Havard Medical School and working on an overseas preclinical experiment for thedevelopment of world-class nanomedicine.
Prof. Hahn’s team has published a total of 33 papers in international journals such as Nature Photonics. He has also completed about 30 patent applications and registrations of his nanomedicine research.
