The first place in the inter-department basketball competition went to the department of chemical engineering in the final match against the department of electrical engineering, held on Nov. 8 at the POSTECH gymnasium.
The inter-department basketball competition is held every year to strengthen the relationship among 11 departments in POSTECH. From this year, the competition adopted both the “league” and “tournament” system whereby 11 teams are divided into 2 groups and the top 2 teams from each group with the highest points go on to the knock-out phase.
In the final match, the department of chemical engineering dominated the first quarter of the game with a strong defense and swift offensive attacks. Despite the opponent’s effort to catch up, the final score was 49:37.
“I’m really glad that our department has been able to win the competition for 3 consecutive years. I believe it’s the teamwork that has led us to such a  victory,” commented Choi Jun Yong (CE 10) who was chosen as the MVP of the match. The winning department will be awarded with 300,000 KRW.
