Professor Suk Bong Hong (CE, SEE) was appointed as a council member of the Inte- rnational Zeolite Association (IZA). The IZA held the 17th International Zeolite Conference (IZC), which was held from Jul. 7-12 in Moscow, Russia, and IZA membership appointed seven council members including Prof. Hong. In addition, Prof. Hong was selected as a member of the IZA Synthesis Commission.
Prof. Hong is one of the world’s foremost authorities on nanoporous materials. He received a Ph.D. degree in Virginia Tech and continued his research as a post-doc in Caltech. In 2007, he was appointed as the professor of School of Environmental Science and Engineering (SEE) in POSTECH and has studied about innovative synthetic strategies for nanoporous materials.
The term of a council member is six years. He is the fourth Korean scientist appointed as a council member of IZA. The other three Korean scientists who have been appointed were Chun Hak Je (KAIST), RyongRyoo (KAIST), and Kyung Byung Yoon (Sogang University).
