Creative Economy Forum Held in POSTECH

Creative Economy International Forum was held by Max Planck POSTECH/Korea Research Initiative in POSCO International Center on Jun. 24. The subject of this forum was fundamental research and the aim was to spread result models in the creative economy age. Peter Gruss, the president of German Max Planck foundation, which is an international basic science research institute, and President Yongmin Kim each presented about promoting creative economy through fundamental research and the role of research-oriented universities to vitalize commercialization of fundamental research.
President Kim emphasized, “Education is more important than other things for realizing a creative economy and venture business. The commercialization of technology is possible only when education progresses with research.” In addition, Paul Chu, former President of Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Kim Doo-chul, the head of Korea Institute for Advanced Study, evaluated changes in the science paradigm of the 21st century, and then proposed solutions for promoting basic science during a panel discussion.
