THE POSTECH TIMES NOW HAS NEW MEMBERS.
LET US TAKE NOTE OF WHAT THEY SAY AS NEW REPORTERS.

Want to Show You What I Think

I appreciate the opportunity to be a reporter of The Postech Times. I want to tell you about my thoughts. First of all, I will tell you why I am suitable to be a The Postech Times reporter. For three years in high school I worked at English newspaper club “Magnolia”. I read English newspapers and discussed hot topics that were covered in most major newspapers. I also wrote articles. These activities allowed me to have wider view of situations. Moreover, finding additional information through by researching a subject and trying to organize the information was very exciting to me.
Secondly, there are several things that I want to do as a reporter in The Postech Times. One of those things is getting more opportunities to approach English so that I can continue to study English during my college life. It will be a good experience for me to learn English through meaningful interactions with superiors. Also, I hope to give useful information and chances to enjoy culture and science in special section to Postechians. For example, introducing science or psychology hidden in our daily life will be fun and I am sure that it can rejuvenate people tired from studying.
Lastly, I would like to promise things about what I can do as a reporter of The Postech Times. Actually, I heard that reporters’ activities in POSTECH are very busy because reporters should publish newspapers every three weeks. It sounds difficult, but I promise readers that I will make effort to do what I want to write and completely do it in time. To do so, I will manage my schedule well not to make any problems in making newspapers. Also, I will listen to what topics students are interested in. I will try to investigate those topics and offer useful information.
In conclusion, I have 3 years of experience, obvious purpose, and strong passion to The Postech Times. Therefore, I am pleased at this position and I will do my best. I look forward to communicating with you every 3 weeks through interesting articles. Thank you for reading my thoughts.

True Passion

I have always tried to do my best in everything, including studying, activities related to leadership, and volunteer work. I believed that everything will work out fine if I am just diligent. In fact, everything worked out fine in high school. My grades improved and club and volunteer activities met with good results. Eventually, I wrote down something I regarded as my passion on my letter of Self-Introduction to apply for POSTECH and was admitted.
However, in university, I realized that I don’t know the reason that I do my best. What’s causing me to be passionate? I couldn’t answer the question well, but I realized I have to be passionate just for myself. I invested all my time and effort into my academic abilities.
From now on, I will wipe out this attitude. As a reporter of The Postech Times, I started to be passionate not just for me, but for better community. Now, I represent not just myself, but POSTECH. I can explain my school and make a little change through articles and interviews. I want to maximize this privilege by working harder and having more interest in community.
Firstly, I will write an informative article. I don’t want my article to be a mass of letters that exist formally on a page in a newspaper. I hope that people get to know some ideas and information from my article. I want my article to produce another value beyond itself.
Secondly, I want to make changes by the power of writing. Through observing the daily life of POSTECH that people just pass by, I will draw people’s attention to thing that should be noticed and improved. By that, I want to contribute on creating a better environment. Especially, I have interest in workers in POSTECH like janitors and cleaning men/women. I want to know what troubles they are suffering and how well they are treated by paychecks, welfare systems, etc. I will be very happy if I can contribute to betterment of their working conditions. In addition, doing those works is one of the most important reasons that I wanted to be a reporter of The Postech Times. By achieving those works, I want to display true passion.
I know that I just got a great opportunity through which I will learn and grow. When I am a reporter of The Postech Times, I want to be passionate not just for myself, but for all of us.

Become a Reporter Providing Useful Information

The Postech Times is different from the English newspaper that I wrote for in high school. The Postech Times is classified as an institution of the university, not just a club. It looks interesting but carries responsibility with it. The Postech Time has had the meeting every week to make a plan for next newspaper. They have shown their passion through their articles. I have to work with proper responsibility as I become a member of The Postech Times. People used to say that writing an article in English is really hard, so I had seriously considered whether or not I should become a reporter. I have decided that my passion to write will pull me through any difficulties that arise.
I am not accustomed to POSTECH, so I don’t know well about POSTECH and issues happening in our university. But, I will try to pay attention and to take an interest in people around me as I am one of   the the members in The Postech Times. In addition, I will write articles with accurate and timely information for readers.
I think that the roles of reporter are to inform readers about POSTECH and to express our opinions in English. I am not so good at talking and writing English, but I will try to become more proficient by seeking advice from superiors and reading many articles.
Readers of The Postech Times are not only our university people but also professors’ and students’ family. We have to consider their interests too. I want to write information and activities that they need. I will use concise and easy words and grammar so that they can understand and enjoy the newspaper.
I want to make many people read The Postech Times because they think they can get information by reading it. I continuously think about what information will be most interesting and useful for readers. I feel honored to be a reporter and I will work for our university with pride.
