On 1908 Mar. 8, approximately one million five thousand female garment workers marched through New York City’s Lower East Side to rally at Union Square, demanding economic and political rights. More specifically, they argued for a ten-hour day labor system, better working environment, and labor union. From this point onwards, women have staged the world as the audience and continued to actively fight for women’s rights.
From Mar. 4-8, SUN stationed a booth at the first floor of the Student Union building. After students participated in a quick quiz about International Women? Day, through random selection, SUN gave out Burger King coupons. Additionally, SUN prepared a tree so that students could write their wishes for the year. SUN also gave refreshments to students that visited the office on Mar. 8.
