Professor Barlat of the department of Graduate Insti-tute of Ferrous Technology was awarded the 2013 Khan International Medal for his outstanding contributions to the field of Plasticity. This award is given by the International Journal of Plasticity (IJP) conference to an individual based on both the quality and quantity of his or her achievement, along with the number of citations it generates. IJP is considered the most authoritative symposium in this area of study.
Remarkably, this is the first time for an individual from a domestic institution to win this prize. Also, Prof. Barlat was unanimously chosen to be awarded due to the quality of his previous theses and various works.
Meanwhile, Prof. Barlat is also known for three of his theses, which are included in a group of works that have been cited the most in the International Journal of Plasticity over the last 25 years.
