Postechians can cast an absentee ballot from POSTECH for the presidential elec-tion, marking the first in the university’s history that voting on campus is possible.
Members of Gyeongsangbuk-do Election Commission required POSTECH to receive 1800 requests for an absentee ballot to satisfy conditional permission to set up a polling place on campus. According to Undergraduate Association, they received 2100 requests in five days, which was enough to satisfy the criteria.
Sung-Hwan, Kim (CSE 09), President of Undergraduate Association, emphasized, “Even though POSTECH is not a big university, we achieved what we wanted by ourselves. Other universities will also try to set up a polling place in their universities, following the lead of POSTECH.”
Applicants can cast an absentee ballot on Dec. 13 and 14.
