Professor Chan Gyung Park (MSE) became the honorary chair-professor and Prof. Sei Kwang Hahn (MSE) and Prof. Hyung Joon Cha (CE) became the honorary young chair-professors of SeAh Steel Corporation. The ceremony was held in the POSTECH administration building on Apr. 12.
Prof. Park was recognized as the best analyst using a microscope. He rendered great services to the development of material science engineering, especially in steel research, metal ceramics, and nano-engineering.
Prof. Hahn achieved outstanding results in medical technology such as developing a new drug using hyaluronic acid that is one of the biomacromolecules. Prof. Cha developed the practical foundation of hybrid bio-adhesive based on mussel and obtained high-quality results in commercialization of bio-binding agent.
With three years of term, each SeAh chair-professor is to receive financial support of 90 million KRW, and SeAh young chair-professors are to receive 60 million KRW during the term.
SeAh Steel Corporaion selects the chair-professors among celebrated scholars and supports them for exceptional industrial development and for improvement made in business competition. The financial support for the chair-professors was maintained by the fund donated by the SeAh Steel Corporation.
