Professor Won Jong Kim (Chem) was awarded the Wiley-PSK Macromolecular Rapid Communications Young Scientist Award. The award ceremony was held in the Daejeon convention center during the Spring Meeting of the Polymer Society of Korea (PSK) from Apr. 12 to 13.
Prof. Kim was selected as the winner for his contributions in diagnosis and curing of various diseases by using biomedical polymer material. By utilizing pH and thermo-sensitive polymer, he developed therapeutic gene-carriers of intractable diseases, such as cardiac disorder and cancer. In addition, he succeeded in detecting single nucleotide polymorphism in high resolution using nano-channel of block copolymer.
The Wiley-PSK Macromolecular Rapid Communications Young Scientist Award is sponsored by John Wiley & Sons, which is a world-wide academic publishing company.  The honor is awarded to outstanding rising scientists for promising researches in polymer chemistry. The recipients of this award must be under 45-years of age and must have obtained their doctorate degree in ten years.
PSK was founded in 1976 for contributing to society by spreading knowledge and technology about polymer among the public and for developing high polymer engineering.
