‘PAL’ festival was held at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL) on Oct. 15. This festival consisted of two parts and starting at 2 P.M was a science contest for students and families who lived in Pohang. There were several interesting activities, such as the science golden bell, a picture contest and flying rubber power plane. The science golden bell was categorized according to age. The second part was a light concert. Kim Jong-gook and Maya, both famous singers, came to Pohang for this concert. Also, there were many performances by Pohang citizens who participated in PAL festival.

The festival was designed for celebrating the start of constructing the fourth generation light source and inspiring pride of Pohang citizens. There was a light performance in the middle of the concert. For this performance, President Yongmin Kim and Lee Sang-duk, member of Congress, attended.

Even though the festival was the first event for citizens of Pohang, many people were aware of it and participated in this ceremony. Lee Mi-ja who lives in Yukang said that “It was great cultural event for citizen. Also this festival allows [us] to recognize what is light source. I wish there were many performances like this.”
