The World Bank introduced POSTECH and ten other nonwestern research universities as successfully developed world research universities in their recent report. The written paper, ‘The Road of Academic Excellence: The Making of World-Class Research Universities’ highlights only POSTECH from Korea and other Eastern Asian  universities such as National University of Singapore and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It mentions that all chosen universities have great facilities and students, stable finance, strategic vision and leadership in common.

In addition, it explains about POSTECH’s construction and history from the part of the report called ‘A World-Class Research University on the Periphery.’ It has a high regard for POSTECH’s fast development, foreseen leadership, and great investment for students despite several disadvantages such as a private school in a distinct region from the big city.
