An inaugural meeting was held on Oct. 24 to celebrate the foundation of the Science and Engineering Research Center (S/ERC). The meeting was attended by President Yongmin Kim, director Park Sung-hyun from the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), the president of the Korean Mathematical Society, the president of the Korean Physical Society and 90 other figures.

S/ERC is the major project of the NRF which is designed for innovation of the research and development environment by organizing it into specific fields and supporting them.

Including the previous 10 centers, POSTECH now houses three more centers: Prof. Kim Kang-tae of the Center for Geometric and its applications, Prof. Chung Wan-kyun of the Research Center of Advanced Robotic Surgery based on Deep Tissue and Haptic Feedback Technology for SRC, and Prof. Lee Hu-Jong of the Center for Topological Matter for ERC.
