POSTECH Selects New ‘Stars’ Who Would Lead Korean Scientific Technology

POSTECH chose five new rising scientists of Korean scientific technology. It announced the scientists who would be supported by Rising Star, a supporting business, on Aug. 25 in order to grow excellent professors into global scholars.
The honor was given to Prof. Yunje Cho(Life), Prof. Hyung Joon Cha (CE), Prof. Seungjin Choi (CS), Prof. Kawano Masaki (AMS), and Prof. Wonyong Choi (ESE).

Prof. Yunje Cho and Prof. Hyung Joon Cha will receive research expenses for comprehension and adjustment of aging through dynamic proteomics approach and medical bio-adhesive material respectively. In addition, Prof. Seungjin Choi processes a research on statistical machine learning; Prof. Kawano Masaki conducts a study of kinetic self-assembly of porous networks, and Prof. Wonyong Choi researches about production of clear water and hydrogen using the rays of the sun with financial support from the school.

‘Rising star’ is a school program which finds great professors in Korea, offers expenses for their intensive research, and helps them to grow as global scholars. The scientists selected this year will be supported with 1.2 billion KRW (maximum) per person for three years.
