Two big changes have occurred on campus. First, the Healthy Drinking Culture Campaign was embarked on. Second, the school began an energy conservation policy due to the rising energy crisis level.

The campaign for a healthier drinking culture began with the high demand of students and initiative of the new Undergraduate Association. In mid-January, the Undergraduate Association undertook a survey to assess the public opinion of the students.

The report of the survey was published on PosB and is available to be read. The report reflects both the advantageous and disadvantageous sides of POSTECH’s drinking culture.

The campaign was initiated to maximize the benefits and minimized the losses of drinking. The main topics of the campaign are to encourage students not to drink over their capacity and not to verbally or non-verbally coerce co-drinkers to drink more.

The energy conservation policy was spurred by the announcement of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy restricting energy consumption. This is due to the skyrocketing oil price most influenced by the civil conflict in Libya.

Till the ministry makes a re-announcement, the school will run just half the elevators, turn off the unnecessary outdoor lights after 20:00 and advertise the individual campus members to voluntarily reduce the consumption of energy.
