On Mar.18, POSTECH held an open lecture in the Posco International Centre with the topic of ‘Our Mysterious Brain’ as a part of the World Brain Awareness Week program.

In front of over 100 members of the general public, including students from Pocheol High School and Gyeongbuk Science High School, professor Seunghwan Kim from the Department of Physics and professor Kyong-Tai Kim from the Department of Life Science gave lectures titled   ‘Brain, Humans and  Society’ and ‘Understanding the Brain Makes Study Fun, ’ respectively.

Even after major breakthroughs in science, the function of our brains remains unsolved and it is regarded as the last puzzle to challenge in the 21st century.

The World Brain Awareness Week was first organized in 1992 for the public to realize the importance of brain studies. At present programs are concurrently held in over 57 countries on the third week of every March. It is  in its 10th year in Korea and from Mar. 12 to Mar. 29, lectures will be open to the public free-of-charge in 11 cities, at 15 universities and hospitals.
