POSTECH concluded an MOU with Technische Universitat Dresden (TUD) of Germany. The two universities held an agreement ceremony in the POSCO International Center on Jan. 25, followed by a ceremonial workshop about Convergence Engineering with invited officials of TUD and Siemens, a German global corporation.
POSTECH plans to set up a cooperative system with TUD by exchanging faculty and students, carrying out joint research, holding mutual conferences, and sharing references. It is expected to enhance communication of global human resources in science and technology as well as cooperation with laboratories in Dresden, famous for its worldwide science park.
TUD, founded in 1828, is a research-oriented university located in Dresden, in southeastern Germany. Dresden, commonly called the ‘Silicon Valley of Germany,’ has developed industries and research institutes like Pohang, to that point the MOU between POSTECH and TUD is special because both have contributed to the development of their host cities into science cities.
In addition to the ceremony, at the workshop Professor Won-ki Hong of the Division of IT Convergence Engineering and Professor Antonio Hurtado of TUD gave a lecture for the attendees.
