On Nov. 17-18, the 12th Cross Strait Symposium, in which POSTECH, Kyushu University, and Pusan National University participated, was held in POSTECH. The aim of this symposium is to provide graduate students with the opportunity to present their scientific findings to overseas counterparts in English and exchange opinions not only on their research but on world-views. In this way, it is hoped that they will be exposed to many different viewpoints, thus providing them with much broader perspectives.

At this time, 38 students from POSTECH, 34 students from Pusan National Univ., and 66 students from Kyushu Univ. participated, and in total 117 papers in the field of materials, energy, and environmental engineering were presented in the symposium. The Cross Strait Symposium is appraised as a good example of academic exchange; including graduate students-oriented academic discussion, the symposium promotes friendship between the graduate students of Korea and Japan.
