Several awards have been granted to the faculty members and students of the Department of Industrial and Management Engineering (IME).

On Oct. 29, Professor Jaewook Lee was awarded with the first ‘Hyeonwoo OR/MS Award,’ which is given to a scholar for excellence in research in the Korean Operations Research and Management Science Society (KORMS).

On Nov. 4, Prof. Injun Choi was awarded with a citation by the Ministry of Education Science and Technology in the ‘2010 Industry-University-Institute Collaboration Expo.’ In twenty years, he established an IT solution company named Cyberdigm and developed it to be listed on the stock exchange. As the head of the Techno Management Research and Information Center and  Pohang Technopark, he hugely contributed to the development of the local economy and industry.

On Nov. 6, Prof. Byung-In Kim’s team was awarded with the grand prize for ‘The Development of Forging Products Amputation Design System’ in the ‘Industry-Academy Collaboration Project Competition.’ With Pyeong San Manufacture Incorporation, Prof. Kim’s team attained a revolutionary reduction in time spent in amputating materials.

In the same competition, Prof. Euiho Suh gained the gold prize for ‘Research for the Activation CoP (Community of Practice) for the Transversion to the Innovation Systems.’ With POSCO’s collaboration, his team contributed to the efficient management of CoP.

As students, a team of Ph.D. candidates achieved the grand prize in the Patent Search Information Technology Exhibition and a team of undergraduate students grasped the gold prize in the college project competition.
