“Ideas are contagious and I believe ideas shown with Prezi can change the world,” said Jihoon Roh (IME 05), the korean Facebook group (facebook.com /pezKor) leader, at the release party of the Korean Prezi theme for Hangul Day.

Prezi is a web-based presentation application specializing in storytelling by using a single canvas instead of traditional slides. Since the canvas allows users to create non-linear presentations, Prezi allows users to have more freedom compared to MS PowerPoint.

The problem was that because Prezi was only supported in English, Japanese, and Chinese, Korean people had difficulties in using it.

Jihoon Roh, like many other Prezi zealots, became fascinated with Prezi when he first saw Prezi on Jeff Jarvis’ renowned IT blog. Mr. Roh sent a message asking for the release of a Korean Prezi theme. Although he did not receive a positive answer at first, Mr. Roh made a Facebook page in order to introduce Prezi to Korean users and to share the application. He also conducted serveral pezKor open seminars.

Thanks to Mr. Roh’s efforts, the Facebook group gathered more than three hundred members. Not long after that, they decided to release a Korean Prezi theme. On this past Hangul Day, Prezi Korean Style was released.

“It is also a creativity tool,” said Mr. Roh at the Prezi Korean theme launching party. “From text to images and video, the way of expression is more visual. I can’t wait to see my fellow Koreans to start happily zooming!
