A special fair with global companies

▲ Visitors consulting in job fairs

POSTECH held the ‘2010 POSTECH Science Festival (PSF)’ with global companies at the POSCO International Center on Sep. 2 and 3. The 2010 PSF included company introductory speeches, job fairs, a mentoring program and oral or poster presentations by Undergraduate Research Program (URP) attendees. Nearly 30 easily recognizable global enterprises, such as Samsung Electronics, POSCO, Hyundai Motors, and SK Telecom, joined the 2010 PSF to captivate focus of excellent Postechians.

Visitors consulted with job officials about companies and recruitment. The mentoring program was held at night. Furthermore, undergraduates attending URP delivered their interim reports through oral presentations and posters. URP is a supporting plan by POSTECH and the government for undergraduates to independently conduct studies.

The gathering of global companies for promotion and recruitment suggests the high standard and potential of Postechians. It could be a big chance to get information about finding a job in companies for those students who choose not to go to graduate school and become researchers. Mr. Kim Yu-jae (undergraduate PHYS01, Samsung Corning Precision Materials), in regard to the employment of Postechians, said, “It is hard to know enough about society, companies, and recruitment in POSTECH, as was my case. Our basic abilities are sufficient to excel beyond other companions. What Postechians need is a share of information through various group studies for applications and interviews.”

An interesting point was that the company officials were mostly POSTECH alumni. They were more familiar with POSTECH employment applicants than any others, and they were sincere and kind to their POSTECH juniors.
