Renowned Asia-Pacific Physicists Meet

The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP, directed by Peter Fulde), held its 14th council and 12th senate as part of the 2010 APCTP International Symposium on International Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific, with renowned scientists of the 13 member nations, from Apr. 1 to 3 at the POSCO International Center.

At the international symposium held on the first day, discussed were how to lead Asia-Pacific globalization, how to restructure the APCTP, and how to view international cooperation in Asia, with presentations of each panel and free discussions. On the second day, a signing ceremony between the Thailand Center of Excellence in Physics and APCTP was held. They agreed to invest in training for growing scientists and to increase research interchange. Active academic and personal exchanges between the two nations are expected.

The Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics centered in POSTECH was founded in 1996 to promote cooperative research and scientific communication for the development of theoretical physics in the Asia-Pacific region.
