New Education Center for IP-based Entrepreneurs Begins

The first step to train intellectual property-based (IP-based) gifted entrepreneurs was started by POSTECH and the Korean Intellectual Property (IP) Office. Bill Gates of Microsoft, and Larry Page and Sergey Brin, co-founders of Google, are typical examples of IP-based entrepreneurs, creating future growth industries based on intellectual properties.

POSTECH launched the Education Center for IP-based Entrepreneurs last September with cooperation and supervision of the IP Office, and the opening ceremony was held on Jan. 27 in POSTECH. The establishment progress report, congratulatory speech of the president of the IP Office, and signboard hanging were conducted with visitors such as Yoon-Ha Jeong, Research Vice President of POSTECH, Jung-Sik Koh, Commissioner of the IP Office, and Kim, Kwangsoo, chairman of the POSTECH Education Center.

After the ceremony, a three-day orientation for the finally selected 181 attendants starting the one-year course took place. In the orientation, an introduction to the curriculum and various experience programs were conducted. From the diverse plans  of attendants in the orientation, annual individual courses were determined. For a year, attendants will finish online and offline classes during semesters. During vacation, at a camp, they will be given intensive training to cultivate many kinds of abilities required to be leading enterprisers of society.
