Professor Jin Kon Kim of the Department of Chemical Engineering was appointed as a fellow in the Division of Polymer Physics of the American Physics Society (APS). Professor Kim, who has been doing excellent research in the area of polymers, was acknowledged for his pioneering work on the discovery of a new kind of phase behavior of block copolymers and the development of next generation ultrahigh-density storage media.

This position, given only to 0.5% of members of APS having passed stringent examination, is considered as the highest honor among scientists in the related field.

Professor Kim joined POSTECH as a professor in 1993 and has been working as one of the editors of an international journal, Polymer. In Korea, he won many awards such as ‘the scientist of the month’ in 2003 and worked as both a Korean representative and general secretariat member in the Polymer Processing Society (PPS) Asia/Australia Meeting.
