The POSTECH campus is turning into an art gallery. From Oct.27 to Aug.30 of next year, an exhibition titled ‘Under Feet and Eye’ will be held throughout the campus. A total of 86 works, mainly oil paintings and drawings, are displayed on the theme of art and humans.

POSTECH, which has been opening high-class cultural events such as the ‘Thursday Cultural Event’ for its members, plans to create a lively research environment filled with artistic imagination by inviting new artists to the campus annually. Along with the presentation of the artist, an interview, critics’ reviews and a meeting with the artist will take place during the course of the 10-month display.

‘Under Feet and Eye’ is the first exhibition held by an artist at POSTECH and it has gathered much attention being the first experimental display in the nation to harmonize art and science education. The paintings are fittingly placed according to each building’s characteristics.

President Sunggi Baik commented, “Science and art seem unrelated but both express creativity and enrich our lives. I anticipate that our students will develop into more creative and imaginative future scientists through this exhibition.”

Park Jin-hwa, born in Jangheung, Jeollanam-do, graduated from Hongik University in 1981. From his debut in 1989 at the Han River Art Museum to the opening of the Park Jin-hwa Art Gallery in 2009, he held 14 individual displays and 50 group shows.
