The 2018 National R&D Performance Evaluation Awarding Ceremony hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT has nominated Prof. Kug Jong-Seong (SEE) the President Award and Prof. Kim Hyoung-Seop (MSE) the Minister Award. 
The National R&D Performance Evaluation Awarding Ceremony has been awarding individuals and institutions evaluated to have made outstanding results since 2003 to upraise the morale and honor of science and technology professions and    inspire challenge. 
Prof. Kug Jong-Seong was nominated for his contribution in the delicate understanding of world climate through his researches regarding the El Nino phenomenon, the relationship between phytoplankton and arctic warming, and other topics connected to major climate changes. 
Prof. Kim Hyung-Seop was acknowledged for showing outstanding research in the field of analysis on the mechanical behavior and finite element based on microstructure and deformation mechanism and excellence in the field of nanostructure design and materials.  
Meanwhile, the 2018 National R&D Performance Evaluation Awarding Ceremony was held in the Gwacheon Government Complex on Dec. 28, 2018. 119 science and technology professions and 10 institutes were awarded during the ceremony.
