POSTECH Pohang Mathematics Institute (PMI) held 13rd Ilju math school from Jan. 26 to Feb. 2 in National Institute for Mathematical Sciences (NIMS). Supported by Ilju foundation and NIMS, this Math School was chosen as winter school of NIMS. Graduate students, postdoctoral researchers and professors discussed ‘Banach Spaces and Related Topics’ without reserve, which is called ‘open school’.

Professor Motohisa Fukuda from Yamagata University, Professor Gilles Godefroy from ‘Institut de Mathématiques de Jussieu (IMJ)-Paris Rive Gauche’ and Professor Kim Jae-gil from GIST College were invited as lecturers. They introduced and intensively discussed research themes of recent functional analysis.

POSTECH asserted “By those discussions on the latest functional analysis and opening of Ilju Math school, we expect the natural interactions between researchers from different generations. Also, we hope for junior research groups around the world to be a world-class.”
