EyePia was awarded the ‘2017 Daegu Gyeongbuk Small and Medium Business Award of the Year’. EyePia is a venture company founded in 2011. It was founded by two Postechians, Lee Baek-hee (Ph.D.) and Lee Ji-hyoung (IME, Ph.D. candidate). The award is given annually to enterprises which have contributed to the economic development of local regions. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, who present these awards, receive applications from companies, and evaluate them using a judging committee composed of experts in the field.
EyePia developed a field-of-view inspection system which can diagnose glaucoma, and patented it, being the first to do so in Korea. In addition, the company is evaluated to have a great deal of potential, for they are capable of creating prototypes which are ready to be mass produced.
