Meta-hologram Using Silicon Developed

A research team consisting of Professor Rho Jun-suk (ME/CE) has succeeded in fabricating a meta-hologram using silicon’s double magnetic resonance effect. Meta-hologram, a hologram composed of meta-materials, operates in all areas of visible light. Unlike previous holograms, their optical properties can be manipulated theoretically, but using metals as substance, it showed a partial loss in optical properties. The research team designed the platform occurring double magnetic resonance using silicon nanostructures with the one-fourth width of visible light wavelength. As a result, they obtained a reflective hologram with high efficiency and were reactive to simple light sources such as a cell phone flash. The research was  announced to ACS Nano.
